Choosing the right school for your child is one of the most important decisions that you will ever make. I hope that our website will provide a positive insight into our school and help you decide to come and see us for yourselves. I believe you will be impressed and will trust us to the education of your child.
A fundamental aim of the Cambridge International School (CIS) is to prepare our students for their role in an increasingly interconnected and rapidly changing world. At the same time, it is our firm belief that this should happen in an environment that is friendly, happy, supportive and secure. Knowing the pressure and stress that demanding high quality schooling can potentially place upon the young, our mission is to provide a harmonious environment in which the child and not the system is central. We know that a happy learner means good learning, so we strive to make CIS a home-from-home for all our students.
We have developed a curriculum which has two academic foundations; the international curriculum from the world-leading University of Cambridge and the National Curriculum of England. These have been adjusted to make them particularly relevant to our multi-national student body and our central European location. Our qualified, certified and experienced teachers are from a variety of nations providing coherence throughout the school whilst also allowing for a range of complimentary approaches to support our diverse student body.
The facilities at CIS are outstanding. We boast an architect designed conversion and new build which has created a large, modern and very impressive facility in the heart of Bratislava next to the open green space of the extensive Horsky Park. Students benefit from a very large new gym, outdoor sports area, laboratory, computer room, and a school playroom with further facilities including separate pre-school building.
Our admissions procedure is simple but depends upon the age of your child. If your child is entering school for the first time, a school readiness certificate needs to be provided if the child is Slovak. All children also have an informal chat with one of our early years’ teachers. For older children, a test of written and oral English to establish the level of language support needed, and an interview with an appropriate teacher are all that is required. We aim to support each individual whatever their educational history so these tests are simply to help us do so and particularly to ensure that any support needed is available from day one. As long as we believe we are right for your child, he or she will be offered a place, after which all other information including the contract of education will be sent to you. To help us in our initial arrangements to see you and your child, please complete and return the Admissions Enquiry Form available on our website Admissions page.
Even though the information on our website is comprehensive, I appreciate that choosing a school for your child is a difficult decision and it is almost impossible to judge any school based on a website alone. I would therefore like to take this opportunity to invite you to visit us when we can talk in depth about the School and more importantly, about your child and how we can support their own individual situation, needs and aspirations.
I look forward to welcoming you and your family to the Cambridge International School in the near future.
