Teacher of English Language and Literature
Joceline Powter worked at The British International School Shanghai as a Drama, English and EAL teacher for 7 years. She has always had a passion for drama and worked as a professional actress in London, including teaching Drama in Primary Schools for ILEA (the Inner London Education Authority) before she achieved her BA Hons degree in English Literature followed by her CELTA qualification (Cambridge Certificate in Teaching English Language). Motherhood took Joceline to Spain where she worked extensively, teaching EAL and Theatre–in–Education in schools across Barcelona and Cataluña, followed by teaching posts with The British Council and the University of Barcelona where she also trained for and worked as a Cambridge ESL examiner. Mrs Powter loves to read, write poetry, paint occasionally, cycle and trek with her sons, especially undertaking long walks in the mountains. She has chosen the international system as she finds that the diversity of nationalities and cultures makes teaching far more exciting and interesting.
