Young Voices Trip to London – A Celebration of Music, Discovery, and Magic

The Young Voices trip to London was nothing short of extraordinary—a whirlwind of music, laughter, learning, and unforgettable memories that will stay with us for years to come. Our group of 34 enthusiastic children, ranging from Year 5 to Year 8, were wonderfully supported by two truly fantastic teacher helpers, whose care, energy, and good humour helped make the entire experience such a tremendous success.

Our adventure began on Sunday, with the buzz of excitement building as we arrived in London. The city welcomed us with open arms as we checked into the Novotel, our home for the week. Spirits were high as we settled in and enjoyed a fabulous buffet dinner, where tired travellers were instantly revived by delicious food and the thrill of what lay ahead.

Monday was the day everyone had been waiting for—the Young Voices Concert itself. The atmosphere was electric from the very start, with three hours of rehearsals filled with focus, anticipation, and mounting excitement. A special highlight was the visit to the seats by the conductor and director, which made the children feel truly part of something enormous and important.

Then came the concert: one hour and forty-five minutes of pure exhilaration. Singing alongside 8,990 children, the sound was breathtaking—an ocean of voices united in harmony, talent, and joy. It was a truly awe-inspiring moment, and the children rose to the occasion magnificently.

On Tuesday, we immersed ourselves in wonder at the Natural History Museum. Wide-eyed and curious, the children explored some of the world’s greatest treasures. The dinosaurs section sparked amazement, the earthquakes exhibit thrilled and surprised, and the dazzling gems and minerals left everyone spellbound. It was a day of discovery, curiosity, and endless questions.

Wednesday was packed with iconic London experiences. We began with an amazing tour of the Tower of London, where our brilliant guide Dylan brought history vividly to life. His stories of the Crown Jewels, infamous prisoners, and dramatic events of the past captured everyone’s imagination.

Later, back in Greenwich, we enjoyed the lively atmosphere of the outdoor food market and sampled a variety of delicious street food. The day concluded in spectacular style at the Royal Theatre, Drury Lane, where we attended the West End musical Hercules. It was, quite simply, FANTASTIC—full of energy, colour, and unforgettable performances. The show was loved by all and provided the perfect ending to an already magical day.

On Thursday, after checking out of the hotel, the fun continued at Shrek’s Adventure. The children enthusiastically took part in the quest to find ingredients for a magical potion to save themselves from Rumpelstiltskin, fully embracing the adventure with laughter and excitement. Although the rain shortened our walk around Westminster, it only added to the authenticity of the experience—a true taste of England! Everyone made the most of it, smiling through the showers and soaking up the atmosphere. After some last-minute airport shopping, we flew home, finally arriving at 01:00 on Friday morning—exhausted, but extremely happy.

In every sense, the Young Voices Trip to London was a resounding success. The children were a credit to themselves and the school, embracing every opportunity with enthusiasm, curiosity, and joy. It was a week filled with music, history, adventure, and friendship—a truly magical experience that will be cherished by all who took part.
