Learning with Purpose, Leading with Values

Clear systems, strong teacher–student relationships, and open communication with parents are central to our processes. Regular assessment, meaningful feedback, and guidance help students and families understand progress and plan confidently for the future. At CIS, we work in partnership with parents to guide students through their secondary journey and prepare them for success at university and beyond.

Beyond academics, we believe education should develop the whole child. Our Secondary School places strong emphasis on personal well-being, leadership, communication skills, and ethical values.

Secondary School Overview

The CIS Secondary School is a vibrant learning community for students aged 11–18, designed to nurture confident, capable, and compassionate young people. We offer a broad, internationally recognised curriculum that encourages curiosity, independence, and a love of learning, while maintaining high academic standards.

Our curriculum is based on a British educational framework, leading to internationally respected qualifications. Teaching and learning are student-centered, with lessons that are engaging, challenging, and differentiated to meet the needs of each learner. We encourage students to think critically, ask questions, collaborate effectively, and take responsibility for their own learning.

Building Foundations and Confidence

Key Stage 3 focuses on building strong academic foundations while supporting students through the important transition into secondary education. Students study a broad and balanced curriculum that develops core skills in literacy, numeracy, scientific thinking, creativity, and problem-solving.

Our approach at KS3 emphasises curiosity, confidence, and independence. Students are encouraged to explore subjects in depth, develop good study habits, and discover their strengths and interests in a supportive environment. Personal development, well-being, and positive learning attitudes are key priorities at this stage.

Specialisation, Challenge, and Personal Growth

During Key Stage 4, students begin to specialise while continuing to receive a well-rounded education. They work towards internationally recognised qualifications (IGCSEs) that prepare them for further study. Alongside academic rigour, we focus on developing resilience, responsibility, and effective time management.

Students are supported in making informed subject choices and setting realistic, ambitious goals. Our holistic approach ensures that academic success is balanced with well-being, character development, and preparation for the next stage of learning.

Preparation for University and Life Beyond School

Key Stage 5 is a focused and mature phase of learning where students prepare for university, careers, and independent adulthood. Students study advanced courses (A-Levels) that deepen their knowledge in chosen subjects while developing critical thinking, research, and communication skills.

At this stage, we place strong emphasis on leadership, independence, and future readiness. Students receive personalised academic guidance, pastoral support, and university counselling to help them make confident decisions about their next steps. Our goal is to graduate well-rounded, motivated young adults who are ready to thrive in a global world.
