Samuel Martin Wight
Year 6 Class Teacher
Samuel graduated with 1st Class Honors in the field of Spanish Language and Cultures from the University of Manchester. Following this, he embarked on his teacher training, acquiring his PGCE and QTS from the University of Chester. During his Undergraduate studies, he attained fluency in Catalan, a language about which he has felt curious and passionate since he was a young boy.
His pedagogical journey led him to the balmy tropics of Southeast Asia where he taught English and Drama for 2 years in Malaysia, followed by 6 years in Singapore teaching Spanish at the Secondary level to some of the country’s most gifted young minds. Recently, he has been living and teaching back in Eastern and Central Europe, enjoying the experience of seasons once again. Samuel has a special place in his heart for teaching Year 6 and, having done so several times, he feels a great connection with this age group.
Samuel’s primary passion is learning new languages. In addition to his mother tongue of English, he is also fluent in Spanish, French, Catalan and Romanian (speaking small amounts of Malay, German and Thai) and has ambitious plans to start learning Slovak in line with his relocation to Bratislava. His other leisurely pursuits include dissecting a good crime novel, hiking through alpine forests and experimenting with new ingredients in each country that he has called home.
