Careers & University Guidance
University Guidance at CIS University guidance at CIS is delivered through a dedicated university guidance team that supports students throughout Key Stage 5 (Years 12 and 13). The programme is designed to help students make informed academic and career decisions and to guide them confidently through the university application process.
The university guidance team consists of the Key Stage 5 Coordinator, Marina Brankovičová, together with experienced external counsellors. The schoolworks in partnership with A+ Academic Assistance, whose counsellors Ms Aneta and MsAdriana support students throughout the academic year with expert guidance on university pathways, country-specific application systems, and strategic application planning. We recognise that applying to university can be a complex and sometimes overwhelming process.
Our aim is to provide clarity, continuity, and consistent support at every stage, ensuring students feel confident and well prepared. University and Career Exploration The school is subscribed to Unifrog, a comprehensive university and careers platform that allows students to explore courses taught in English at universities around the world. Through Unifrog, students can access key information in one place, including:Entry requirements and course content Application deadlines and processes Subject pathways and career options
Year 11 students receive access to Unifrog before study leave in April, enabling early Key Stage University Guidance Programme.
In Year 12, students begin a structured programme of career and university guidance, delivered through timetabled sessions and targeted workshops. These focus on:
- Organisation and long-term planning
- Researching universities and courses
- Understanding application systems and timelines across different countries.
Throughout the year, students benefit from a range of enrichment opportunities, including:
- Guest speakers and university representatives
- CV and personal statement workshops
- University guidance sessions and mini fairs hosted at school
- Visits to regional and international university fairs.
Support continues into Year 13, with individual guidance meetings, application tracking, and ongoing support through offers, decisions, and transition beyond school. Our team-based approach ensures that students are supported both within and beyond the classroom, helping them develop independence, confidence, and clarity as they prepare for higher education.
