Julie Ciobanu
Year 3 Class Teacher
Julie gained a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology and followed it up with a TEFL certificate and PGCE at the University of East London. Previous to this, Julie worked as a volunteer in Washington DC, in the world's biggest homeless shelter, then taught English in Romania to students of all ages. Before becoming a teacher, Julie worked helping children with special needs and cared for the elderly in hospitals and nursing homes. Throughout all these jobs and experiences, Julie learned to understand a variety of people of different abilities and ages, who ultimately, taught her to grasp life and cherish living. Julie has been teaching since 2000, from Reception to Year 6 and now looks forward to starting a new chapter at CIS. She is excited to embrace project-based learning and explore Slovakia at every opportunity. When she is not teaching, Julie enjoys travelling, skiing, and cycling with her husband and two children and doing anything creative/arty.
