
James Phillips
Teacher of English / Head of English
James read English Literature at Edinburgh University before completing his MPhil at the University of Cambridge and his PhD at the University of Birmingham where he wrote his thesis on British Literature of World War 2.
He completed his teacher training at Worcester University and taught for thirteen years at sixth form colleges in the UK before taking up posts as Head of English at schools in Cyprus and Malaysia. He has most recently spent three years teaching at Haileybury Almaty (Kazakhstan), where he was Academic Development Coordinator.
As well as reading, listening to music and travelling, James enjoys good food and wine, playing chess, and listening to the cricket on the radio.
