
Robert Francis Pettit
Teacher of Maths / Head of Maths
Robert studied Finance and Accounting at the University of Kent in Canterbury, England, holds Qualified Teacher Status (England and Wales) and a Diploma in Management from the Chartered Management Institute in the UK. He has taught Mathematics in international and bilingual schools in England, Sweden, Slovakia, and Spain.
Before moving into education, he worked in the railway industry for Eurotunnel in France and the UK, major train operating franchises in London and south-east England, as well as holding roles in compliance audit at the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority, and as a trustee of the Channel Tunnel Pension Fund. Robert has proudly called Slovakia his home for the past 16 years, residing as an adopted 'Skaličan', enjoying the rich hospitality and culture of the south Moravian border region with his native 'Skaličanka' wife Jana, and three boys, all of whom attend CIS. In leading mathematics in the secondary section, Robert aims to support all learners in mathematics, offering both the guidance and meaningful challenge they need to succeed.
Beyond teaching, he also enjoys reading about current affairs and global economics and following developments in both domestic and European politics. He is a lifelong supporter of the mighty Leeds United.
